      • LIBRARY SERVICES

Supporting your research and study needs

Our libraries provide you with the following services:

        Borrowing items from the library

If you are currently enrolled in a TAFE course, you can borrow from any TAFE NSW library by bringing your TAFEcard to the Loans Desk.
        • You can borrow up to 15 items.
        • All loans and renewals are for 2 weeks.
        • Some libraries may have local conditions on specific types of items.

        Renewals

You can renew any loan twice, providing the item is not overdue and no one has reserved it.

        Instructional Tours

TAFE Libraries offer three main types of instructional session: Introductory tours, Internet tours and Research tours. Ask your teacher to book a tour on behalf of your class.

        Holds

Items which are on loan from the library can be reserved, and will be held for you to borrow when they are returned to the library. The library will notify you when the items are available for you to collect.

        Inter Library Loans

If you need an item which is held in another TAFE library, contact your own College Library to arrange an Inter Library Loan.

        Closed Reserve

Library resources that are in heavy demand may be held in Closed Reserve. These resources will normally have a shorter loan limit than other library resources and may only be available for use in the library. There will be a note in the library catalogue if an item is held in Closed Reserve. Ask at the Library's Loans Desk to access items held in this section of the library.

        Reciprocal Borrowing

Reciprocal borrowing allows all TAFE SWSi students to borrow from the libraries at University of Western Sydney Campuses. If you are interested in using the reciprocal borrowing service contact your local TAFE library for information on registration and fees.

        Computing Services

To use a computer at your TAFE library bring your current TAFEcard to the service desk. Conditions apply and computer use is subject to DEC/TAFE policy.
It is free for you to use the computers in the library, however there is a charge for printing.

        Photocopying

Photocopying services are available at all TAFE SWSi Libraries. There is a charge for photocopying.

        Group Study rooms

Some college libraries have group study rooms. Bookings are normally for two hours per group. You will need your TAFEcard when you make your booking.

        Overdue items

Penalties and fines will apply if you return your loans late. You cannot use the libraries' services and facilities if you have outstanding loans or fines. You will not receive your results or testamur if you have not paid all outstanding library fines.
